Underlays to China – Interfloor builds strong relationships

The People’s Republic of China with its 1.3 billion population is emerging as a major customer for Interfloor underlays.

Exporting to over seventy countries worldwide, Interfloor is building strong relations with leading carpet manufacturers and flooring contractors across all continents.

In China, this has resulted in contracts at several of the country’s top rated five-star hotels and the 492 metre high Shanghai World Financial Center.

At the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Shenzhen, the most southerly mainland city just north of Hong Kong and reputedly one of the fastest growing cities in the world, corridors and guest rooms are being fitted. The floorcoverings installation is by Weihai Shanhua Carpet Group and they have selected Tredaire Defender as their preferred underlay for the corridors. This is a high quality flat sponge rubber product for heavy usage areas. This installation is the sixth one completed over the past two years by Weihai Shanhua Carpet Group using Interfloor Underlays including Shangri La Hotels in Guangzhou (Bazhou), Shenzhen (Futian), Xian, Kunming and the JW Marriott Hotel in Shenzhen (Futian).

In the capital Beijing, Tai Ping Carpets have chosen Tredaire New Supreme, a luxury quality cellular sponge underlay, for their VIP client The Peninsula Palace, Beijing.

In Shanghai, the largest city in China with over 20 million people, refurbishments are underway at the 610-bedroom Portman Ritz-Carlton Hotel where LM Camina Carpet selected mainly Tredaire Defender flat sponge underlay for the hotel corridor and guest rooms installation.

And at the World Financial Center, Hoi Lee Decoration Supplies Ltd supplied Duralay Treadmore, a high quality rubber crumb suitable for heavy contract use.

“In total we have supplied almost 100,000 square metres of underlay to China for these projects,” said Interfloor regional export manager Far East Frank Jones. “There are a number of others in the pipeline and under discussion which we hope will lead to further work and a growing good working relationship with carpet and floorcoverings businesses in the region.”
